In Afghanistan, eight taliban millitants were killed during a gunfight with government forces in Kunduz province today.

The provincial governor spokesman said fighting happened when Taliban militants launched an attack on government forces' checkpoints in Qahwa Khana area of the province.

Three policemen were also injured in the attack.
