Pakistan has to realign its foreign policy priorities in region: Analysts
January 05, 2018

Renowned analysts have urged Pakistan to realign its priorities in the region, in the wake of security assistance cut and hostile tweet by the US president.

Eminent analyst Dr. Farooq Hasnat while speaking in Nuqta-e-Nazar program of News and Current Affairs Channel said the announcement of US to stop security assistance to Pakistan reflects the double standards of the world’s sole super power. It is a miscalculation of President Trump that it can use Pakistan for its own interests by pressuring Islamabad. Pakistan’s civil and military leadership is on same page regarding the protection of country’s defense and territorial integrity.

IR Expert Dr. Amna Mehmood said relations between nations cannot be undermined by individual statements of rulers. Pakistan will have to realign its priorities in the aftermath of hostile statements from the US.

Speaking from the USA, President Pak-American Democratic Forum, Dr. Ashraf Toor said the ploy used by the US to put Pakistan in the list of countries having religious intolerance is an expression of vengeance by Washington. Pakistan should forcefully raise this issue at the forum of OIC as we are a country with people of diverse ethnicities and religious backgrounds and everyone is living here peacefully.

And renowned defense analyst Brig. (Retd.) Said Nazir said the announcement of cutting aid of Pakistan is another ploy by the Washington to pressurize Pakistan. However, we are not much concerned about American aid as Pakistan has fought this war largely with its own resources.
