Pakistan says it is following the situation in Jordan and stands in solidarity with the Hashemite Kingdom, led by King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein.

In a statement today (Monday), Foreign Office spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said Pakistan fully supports the right of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to preserve its security, stability and sovereignty.

Meanwhile, former crown prince of Jordan Prince Hamzah has vowed he would defy government orders to stop communicating with the outside world and remain indoors.

Jordan government has accused Hamzah of involvement in a seditious conspiracy to "destabilise the kingdom's security", placed him under house arrest and detained at least 16 more people.

Meanwhile, regional powers and Western allies, including the US and UK, have all voiced support for the Jordan king Abdullah II.
