At least 17 people died as the boat carrying more than 50 devotees capsized in sea water near Mir Pur Sakro in district Thatta on Thursday.
According to the police, more than fifty people including women and children were on their way to participate in a mela at a Shrine.
According to Deputy Commissioner Thatta thirteen bodies have been recovered so far and rescue operation is underway to save the missing people.
The injured have been shifted to Taluka hospital Mirpur Sakro.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives and directed Deputy Commissioner Thatta to take all possible efforts for rescuing the people.
