Syed Farooq Qaiser, creator of Kaliyan, newspaper columnist, TV show director and script writer has died at the age 76.
Syed Farooq Qaiser was born on October 31, 1945 in Lahore.
He was well known for his fictional puppet Uncle Sargam introduced in 1976 in children's television show Kaliyan.
His famous puppet characters include Uncle Sargam, Masi Museebatay, Haiga, Sharmeeli and Rola.
He received many awards in recognition of his services in the field of art including Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance.

In a statement today, he said Syed Farooq Qaiser introduced new dimensions to the old art of puppets with his skills.
He said loss of Uncle Sargam will not be fulfilled for years.
The Minister prayed for the departed soul and offered condolences the bereaved family.
