TV show director, script writer Syed Farooq Qaiser passes away

Syed Farooq Qaiser, creator of Kaliyan, newspaper columnist, TV show director and script writer has died at the age 76.

Syed Farooq Qaiser was born on October 31, 1945 in Lahore.

He was well known for his fictional puppet Uncle Sargam introduced in 1976 in children's television show Kaliyan.

His famous puppet characters include Uncle Sargam, Masi Museebatay, Haiga, Sharmeeli and Rola.

He received many awards in recognition of his services in the field of art including Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance. 

Prime Minister Imran Khan expresses sorrow over death of Farooq Qaiser

Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed sorrow over the death of renowned artist Syed Farooq Qaiser.

In a tweet tonight (Friday), he said Farooq Qaiser was not just a performer but he raised awareness about social injustices and issues constantly.

He offered condolences to the bereaved family.

Information Minister expresses deep grief, sorrow over demise of Farooq Qaiser

Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of renowned artist Syed Farooq Qaiser.

In a statement today, he said Syed Farooq Qaiser introduced new dimensions to the old art of puppets with his skills.

He said loss of Uncle Sargam will not be fulfilled for years.

The Minister prayed for the departed soul and offered condolences the bereaved family.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has also expressed grief over the loss of great artist.

In a tweet, he said Syed Farooq Qaiser was an intelligent writer and cartoonist.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said Farooq Qaiser was expert in highlighting public issues in lighter mode.
