Punjab Home Department has issued an order restricting cultivation of cotton crop before 15th of April.

According to the order, the cotton crop sown before the 15th April will be ploughed up.

The order has been issued to save the cotton crop from sustaining damage from Pink Bollworm.

It merits mentioning here that sowing of cotton crop before April provides early feed to the Pink Bollworm which is the most threatening insect pest of cotton. Resultantly, such early crops become hatcheries for the insect pests which severely damage the whole cotton crop of the season.
