Bomb blast kills 11 in Syria
March 19, 2018

In the northern Syrian town of Afrin, 11 people including seven civilians and four Turkish-backed fighters were killed in a bomb blast today (Monday).

Turkey's state-run news agency says a booby trap bomb reportedly left by Kurdish fighters blasted in a four-story building that Turkish-backed Syrian opposition forces were clearing for explosives.

Meanwhile, Turkey says its forces will not remain in Syria's Afrin and will leave the region to its real owners.

Talking to reporters in Ankara, Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag said that Turkey had significantly reduced threats to its borders after capturing the town of Afrin.

He said Turkey had collected “most” of the weapons given to Kurdish fighters by the United States, after the YPG left weapons behind as they fled the town.
