Pak, ADB sign $260m loan agreement to improve power transmission

Pakistan and Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a 260 million dollar loan agreement to improve the country's power transmission network.

The agreement was signed by ADB Country Director Xiaohong Yang and Secretary Economic Affairs Syed Ghazanfar Abbas Jilani in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The signing ceremony was also witnessed by Director General of the Bank for Central and West Asia Werner Liepach.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director-General said the Bank is committed to work with Pakistan to develop a larger, stronger, smarter, and climate resilient power transmission network.  

The agreement envisages expanding 220-KV transmission network in Sindh and Balochistan and upgrading the supervisory control and data acquisition and revenue metering systems in the country.
