APHC calls for unity to counter Indian aggression in IIOJK
April 22, 2024

All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party government's aggressive policies towards the people of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement in Srinagar, APHC spokesperson urged the Kashmiri people to resist India's attempts to erase the political, cultural and religious identity of Jammu and Kashmir.

President of the Peoples Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti while addressing a public rally in Islamabad district reiterated demand for the restoration of occupied Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

Meanwhile, today marks the 27th anniversary of a horrific incident on this day in Srinagar in 1997, when Indian troops subjected three Kashmiri sisters to rape and molestation.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing nightmare endured by women in the occupied territory facing abductions, sexual violence and unlawful detentions.

The perpetrators enjoy immunity under oppressive laws like the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, highlighting a severe lack of accountability and justice.

According to a report by Human Rights Watch, the Armed Forces Special Powers Act provides immunity to Indian forces from prosecution for their crimes of sexual violence.

The report called on the world to act to address the use of sexual violence as a war tactic in the occupied territory.

India's dreaded National Investigation Agency conducted multiple raids in Srinagar, targeting pro-freedom people, as part of the ongoing crackdown against the Kashmiri people.
