Kashmiris on both sides of LoC observed protest day against martyrdom of 10 youth in Kulgam

A protest day against martyrdom of 10 Kashmiri youth in Pulwama district was also observed today across Azad Jammu and Kashmir, upon the call of Joint Resistance Leadership.

Protest rallies and demonstrations were held in big and small cities of the state.

Main rallyof the protest day was staged in Muzaffarabad. It was arranged by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell.

Addressing the rally, AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan strongly condemned joint operation by Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifle, Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operation Group in the district.

He said innocent Kashmiris who are struggling for their UN acknowledged right to self determination are being martyred in so-called search and cordon operations in the Occupied valley. This fresh massacre must awaken the conscience of the world community.

AJK Prime Minister said India wants to change demography of the valley through mass killings of the Kashmiris.

He vowed that people and government of the base camp of freedom and Pakistan will continue to raise voice for the oppressed Kashmiris at very available forum. He assured the Joint Resistance Leadership of political, moral and diplomatic support in their just struggle.

Raja Farooq Haider Khan appealed to UN Security Council not to wait for the killing of last Kashmiri, stop India from further bloodshed of Kashmiris and implement its resolution for peaceful settlemet of the lingering Kashmir dispute.

Other speakers also strongly condemned the brutal killings in Pulwama and said that the puppet authorities had given a license to its forces to kill the Kashmiris indiscriminately.

Earlier, a protest rally led by Prime Minister was taken out from Central Press Club to Azadi Chowk.

The participants of the rally holding black flags and placards chanted anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.

They demanded the international community to take a serious notice of India’s war crimes and massive human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir.

In occupied Kashmir, a complete shutdown is being observed today against the massacre of the youth carried out by Indian troops in Kulgam.

Call for the strike was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

All shops, business establishments and educational institutions are closed and examinations postponed across the valley and Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban and Bhadarwa areas of Chenab valley.

There was very thin traffic on road while internet and mobile phone services were suspended in most parts of the territory. On the other hand a march towards Lal Chowk would be held, tomorrow, to protest against the Kulgam carnage.

The Joint Resistance leadership in a statement in Srinagar said that Indian tyranny and oppression had crossed every limit.

The leadership said that it would soon send a memorandum to UN General Secretary António Guterres to draw his attention towards unabated killings in the occupied territory due to unresolved Kashmir dispute.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Maulana Abbas Ansari and other Hurriyat leaders and organizations in their statements condemned the killings and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.

Meanwhile, Indian authorities put Hurriyat leaders Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Hilal Ahmad War, Bilal Ahmad Siddiqui, Zafar Akbar Butt, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Muhammad Yasin Atai under house arrest or in jails to prevent them from leading the march towards Lal Chowk, tomorrow.

Students of University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Sopore held a massive protest demonstration against the killing of innocent civilians in Kulgam.

Hundreds of people led by Engineer Abdur Rasheed also staged a protest march in Handwara.

President of Jammu and Kashmir Council for Human Rights Dr Syed Nazir Gilani in a letter addressed to UN Chief António Guterres said that the images coming out of Kashmir of brutalities committed by Indian troops were causing a stir among the Kashmiri diaspora.

In New Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union in a statement condemned the civilian killings in Kulgam and said that BJP government wanted to put Kashmir on fire for its electoral gains inside India.
