No one will be allowed to illegally deduct money from Ehsaas Emergency Cash: Sania

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar has expressed the resolve that no one will be allowed to illegally deduct money from Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme, which is aimed at providing assistance to low-income families.

She was addressing a news briefing along with PTI leader Shahbaz Gill on the details of Prime Minister's Ehsaas Emergency Cash programme, in Islamabad this afternoon.

She said the government is disbursing 144 billion rupees among 5.437 million deserving families under the Prime Minister's Ehsaas programme, which is totally non-political, transparent and merit-based. 

Sania Nishtar said under the programme, Sindh is receiving the highest amount, followed by Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 

The Special Assistant said the government has maintained record of all data regarding financial assistance to deserving families under the programme. She further said that over eight hundred thousand non-deserving people have been expelled from the programme after proper verification. 

She further said people, who have applied for the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme, will get a confirmation message within the next 15 days. 

In his remarks, Shehbaz Gill urged all stakeholders, including media and civil society, to help government in its efforts to defeat the Coronavirus.
