The United Nations Security Council has adopted a resolution condemning the starving of civilians as a method of warfare as well as the unlawful denial of humanitarian access to civilian populations. 

The resolution called on all parties to armed conflict to comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law regarding the protection of civilians. It also said sanctions could be imposed on the violators. 

Meanwhile, speaking in Geneva, the UN humanitarian chief urged the Saudi-led coalition and the Yemeni government to speed up food imports through commercial ports to prevent the rising starvation in the country.
