Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Assad Majeed Khan says peace in Afghanistan is vital for stability in the entire region and the international community should play its due role in this regard.
In an interview with an American news channel, he said international community including the United States must learn from the mistakes of the past and work together to ensure that situation does not turn into civil war.
He said comprehensive and practical steps will have to be taken with harmony for durable peace in Afghanistan.
Pakistan envoy to Washington said Pakistan favours the political settlement in Afghanistan and for this purpose talks are underway with the United States, Russia and China.
He said we want that Afghan soil should not be used against any country including the United States and Pakistan.
Assad Majeed Khan said according to the reports, Taliban are giving importance to expectations of international community and implementing the promises they have made and we should keep hopes alive.
