        Islamabad, February 18: Federal Information Secretary, Akbar Hussain  Durrani, says Prime Minister Imran Khan’s led PTI government has initiated a comprehensive plan to revamp the Ministry of Information and all its allied institutions to meet the modern challenges in the field of media.

         This he said while speaking at a briefing at Pakistan Broadcasting Academy during his visit to the campus today.

      He said digitization and modernization of existing setup and equipment in the Ministry, Radio Pakistan, Pakistan Television and their academies is the major focus of revamping plan.

         The Secretary Information directed to post the best of best professionals at the academies of state media organizations to upgrade their academic quality and impart the latest training to the young professionals in different fields.

          He called for chalking out a year long comprehensive chart of training workshops and refresher courses involving the leading universities and technical institutions and their faculties.

         Akbar Hussain Durrani, said Ministry of Information would provide all possible facilities to Pakistan Broadcasting Academy to make it a vibrant training institution and a center of excellence. He directed to ensure best possible use of all the infrastructure available at PBA.

          The Secretary Information expressed great pleasure over PBA’s self sufficiency in financial resources to conduct its training programmes across the year by generating revenue from its hostels.

         Speaking on the occasion, Director General, PBC, Mrs. Samina Waqar appreciated the PBA administration for conducting four important training courses and workshops within short span of time covering the subjects of “voice reporting in news and pronunciation”, “IT for office management”, “Content Writing and Modi’s Hindutva Policy, Bleeding Kashmir and response of Pakistani media”.

       She directed the PBA management to immediately focus on conducting a workshop on digitization for capacity building of PBC professionals in this all important area.

           She said digitization and upgrading of equipment of PBC studios will help improve the quality of production and presentation of Radio programmes and news bulletins.

          Principal, and Vice Principal, PBA gave a presentation to the honourable guests about the aims and objectives of the academy, its infrastructure and academic activities.

           The Secretary Information along with Director General, PBC visited various sections of Pakistan Broadcasting Academy and the Pakistan Broadcasting Foundation’s School in the PBA complex. He interacted with the PBA staff, and the school faculty and students and inquired about their working conditions and problems. He also visited the China Radio International, (FM-98 channel),  housed in PBA complex and inquired about  the working and scope of the channel.

            Secretary Information and Director General, PBC also planted saplings in the PBA Memory Garden.

         Earlier, Director General, PBC Mrs. Samina Waqar,  Principal, PBA Muhammad Tariq Chaudhry and PBA staff warmly welcomed the Secretary Information, Akbar Hussain Durrani on his arrival at the PBA complex.
