Analysts hail govt’s decision to not normalize trade with India until it reverses illegal actions of 5th Aug, 2019
April 01, 2021

Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal (IR Expert): For the last few days, there were rumors that the government was interested in importing cotton and sugar from India. Now, the government has clarified that there will be no trade with India until and unless Kashmir issue is resolved. Once the core Kashmir issue is resolved, there is good potential for trade ties between the two neighbors. It is a clear message to the world that Pakistan will never accept unilateral decision taken by India on 5th of August, 2019 when the fascist New Delhi government abrogated Article 35-A and 370. Kashmir is the main bone of contention between the two nuclear states and peace and stability in South Asian region is not possible till the resolution of this dispute. The world must force India to withdraw its 5th August decision to bring normalcy in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Asif Yasin Malik (Defense Analyst): For quite some time, discussions had been going on that there is a thaw in relations between India and Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan put a cap on these misperceptions by rejecting the proposal to import sugar and cotton from India. We must be confident that Pakistan will never step back from its principled stance on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir at the cost of trade with India. Foreign Minister also made it clear that there will be no sweet talks or trade with India until it reconsiders its unilateral decision taken on 5th August, 2019 and stop committing genocide in the occupied valley. India never signed ceasefire agreement with Pakistan and it considers this accord as deal of convenience. I feel pride to say that befitting response from our security forces against Indian ceasefire violations forced New Delhi to restart dialogue on ceasefire agreement.

Ali Nawaz Awan (Leader, PTI): The present government has introduced a number of relief projects that were never considered by the previous governments. Prime focus of the PTI government is the welfare of common man. We have involved local administrations to provide relief to the deserving at their doorstep. The government is making all out efforts to control inflation and has taken tough decisions to steer the country out of crisis. Previous governments ignored problems of the backwards areas but Prime Minister Imran Khan is giving special importance and attention to the far-flung areas of the country in development projects, in order to bring them at par with developed areas.
