International Labour Day is being observed across the country today as elsewhere in the world, to acknowledge and commend the invaluable contributions of the labour class.

The fundamental objective of observing the International Labour Day is to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the working class, create awareness about their rights, and protect them from exploitation.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment for welfare and uplift of workers.  

In their separate messages on the International Labour Day, they stressed need to equip workers and youth with modern skills to meet the challenges of an ever-changing job market.

The president said our workers are our pride, and we owe our national development to their hard work and contributions.

The Prime Minister urged all stakeholders to join hands in building a culture that respects labour, upholds their rights and creates opportunities of decent work for all.
