UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for action to address extreme heat caused by El Nino.
In a statement, the UN Chief called for action on four fronts: protecting people before heat becomes deadlier, making workplaces safer, building and retrofitting infrastructure for rising temperatures, and stopping the fueling of the climate crisis.
He warned that every new fossil fuel project approved today would make tomorrow's heatwaves more dangerous.
