Religious scholars ask people to get vaccinated against COVID19

A consultative session of religious scholars chaired by President Dr. Arif Alvi in Islamabad on Wednesday asked the people to get themselves vaccinated against COVID-19 to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

A joint statement was also issued on the occasion, in which the religious scholars from different schools of thought agreed to woo the people for vaccination. 

Reading out the content of the statement, the President said millions of people have become victim of COVID-19 and the religious scholars give weightage to the opinion of health experts regarding vaccination against the pandemic.

The President said the religious scholars agreed to the fact that wooing the people for vaccination is one of their prime responsibilities. He said vaccination is important to effectively stop the virus and ensure continuation of socio-economic activities especially the industries and factories.

The religious scholars also expressed satisfaction over the ingredients of the anti-Covid vaccines registered in Pakistan.

They agreed to effectively and positively raise their voice form mosques, Imambargahs and seminaries to persuade the people for Corona Vaccination.

The President said the religious scholars who themselves have also got the vaccination, in their sermons on Friday next will especially preach the people about the importance of Corona Vaccination. He said such announcements will continue to emanate from the mosques in future as well.

President Dr. Arif Alvi commended the role played by the religious scholars in successfully handling the COVID-19 situation.
