DPM chairs meeting to review preparations for 2027 SAARC Games

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering the 2027 SAARC Games in accordance with international standards while extending full support and cooperation to national sports federations to prepare and train athletes for outstanding performances.

This resolve was expressed during a committee meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad today.

The meeting reviewed preparations for the 2027 SAARC Games in Pakistan.

The committee decided to immediately establish the SAARC Games Secretariat in Islamabad, fast-track the upgradation of the Pakistan Sports Complex, and constitute key sub-committees to oversee finances, infrastructure, and venues.

Ishaq Dar highlighted that the government has resolved to promote games and sports activities across the country and that such events will further strengthen Pakistan's soft image around the world.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Rana Sanaullah Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, senior officials from provincial departments, the Pakistan Sports Board, and other relevant government institutions.
