Finance Minister, British HC discuss bilateral trade

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Ms. Jane Marriott called on Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad today.

They discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral trade and investment and encourage greater engagement by UK businesses in Pakistan.

The Finance Minister outlined the Government’s six key priorities: bringing permanence to macroeconomic stability; moving from stabilisation to sustainable, inclusive and responsible growth; staying the course on structural reforms; moving from aid to trade and investment; expanding access to finance and positioning Pakistan for the New Economy.

The Finance Minister highlighted the Government’s ongoing efforts to improve the business environment and facilitate domestic and foreign investment.

The British High Commissioner highlighted the potential of UK companies and diaspora networks to contribute to private-sector development, including by supporting the growth and internationalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The two sides exchanged views on opportunities in the aviation sector, including potential international financing and investment.
