In Afghanistan, the Taliban regime has made life difficult for the Afghan people by propagating a misleading interpretation of Islam to serve its vested interests. 

According to the British newspaper The Telegraph, the Taliban regime's ban on corneal transplants will deprive hundreds of people of sight-saving surgeries every year.

The newspaper reported that the Taliban regime has declared corneal transplantation contrary to Islamic teachings and ordered surgeons to stop performing the procedures.
