Pakistan reaffirms support for Global Development Initiative

Pakistan has reaffirmed its strong support for Global Development Initiative calling for stronger partnerships, increased financing and practical implementation to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during the final five years of the 2030 Agenda.

The support was expressed by Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Asim Iftikhar Ahmad while speaking at the Third Policy Dialogue between the Group of Friends of the GDI and the UN Task Force on Leveraging Partnerships towards the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

Highlighting Pakistan's priorities, the ambassador emphasized enhanced industrial cooperation, including through the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), urban resilience initiatives to strengthen disaster recovery and climate resilience, and expanded collaboration on poverty reduction and food security, including sharing Pakistan's experience with social protection programmes.
