
Pakistan's maritime sector has achieved major milestones following reforms introduced by the Prime Minister's Task Force.
The completed reforms include preparation of national ports master plan, implementation of a uniform port tariff and the facilitation of transit trade.
The reforms also include enhancing port capacity, a modern monitoring system for Special Economic Zones and eliminating encroachments from Karachi Port land.
Additional measures include updating customs rules for transshipment and bunkering, as well as promoting the local shipbuilding and repair industry.
At the provincial level, a five-year fisheries development plan has been finalized, while ship recycling has resumed after an eight year hiatus.
