Analysts laud Radio Pakistan’s role in providing education to masses during Covid-19
December 04, 2020

Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (IR Expert):

The government is accountable and answerable to its people in any democratic country of the world. The present government is making all-out efforts to facilitate the nation by all means. The initiative taken by the government regarding Pakistan Citizen Portal will be helpful in reducing the gap between the government and the masses. Now a common man can even reach out the government with his or her complaints and comments. The citizens could raise their voices online and the departments and offices concerned would be bound to respond in the specific timeline to address their complaints and the PM Office would oversee the progress on those issues.

Dr. Shujah Ahmed (Educationist):

Radio Pakistan is playing crucial role in providing education, entertainment and reliable and credible information to masses in every nook and corner of the country.  Radio Pakistan is also imparting education to youth through different educational programmes in far-flung areas. Similarly, during Covid-19 Pandemic, Radio Pakistan played wonderful role in raising awareness among masses about adverse impacts of the pandemic. The national broadcaster urged masses to adopt proper Standard Operating Procedures, including maintenance of social distancing, wearing of face masks and using sanitizers to protect themselves from Covid-19. Prime Minister Imran Khan has also lauded role of Radio Pakistan during Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr. Huma Baqai (Expert on International Relations):

The institutionalization of response is always a great idea. As far as the Kashmir issue is concerned, the valley has been under curfew for over a year now after the 5th August illegal and unilateral move of the Indian government. India is finding no diplomatic success to hide its grave human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmir is getting out of Indian control. It is good that OIC and some other organizations have also expressed concerns over Indian policies in Kashmir and urged India to review its 5th August decision. Pakistan Citizen Portal is a new idea introduced by the present government. The system which our government has developed is a mean to change the prevailing mindset of each Pakistani and it is our belief that Naya Pakistan will come into being when the present government is ready to own the public for help. It is also a good development that the PM Office will supervise redressal of public grievances by the departments concerned and consider the feasibility of public proposals sent to it by the citizens.

Dr. Noor Fatima (IR Expert):

Pakistan always stood by the rights of oppressed nations. It is a fact that Pakistan has always worked for regional peace and prosperity that has also been acknowledged by the world. Moreover, forging friendly relations with other neighbouring countries has been cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. However, as far as Kashmir issue is concerned, Pakistan will continue its moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiri people. The present government is determined to facilitate the people of the country utilizing all available resources. The establishment of Pakistan Citizen Portal is a good initiative that will resolve the issues of the common masses. In the tenure of the previous government there was a huge gap between the democracy, private sector and the public. This portal will disclose the issues directly to the incumbent government.
