India's illegal step to abrogate special status of IIOJK has produced distress and uncertainty in region: Analysts
April 05, 2021

Maj Gen (Retd) Ijaz Awan (Defense Analyst): Prime Minister Imran Khan extended the hand of friendship and also made an offer to India to take one step and Pakistan will take two steps in response but unfortunately there was no positive response from Narendra Modi. There have been gross human rights violations in India itself as the minorities in India including Sikhs, Muslims, Christians and even low-caste Hindus are the victim of Indian discriminatory policies. The Indian farmers are also in protest against Indian illegal agricultural bills. India is also committing worst human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Foreign Minister has once again raised the issue of human rights in IIOJ&K. The US President Joe Biden was vocal about human rights across the globe but so far we have not observed any statement from United States regarding grave human rights violations committed by India in IIOJ&K. The world needs to realize that regional peace is always at stake unless the Kashmir issue is being resolved. Pakistan needs to devise its policies keeping in view its geographical importance and national interests. Moreover, there should be no compromise on implementation of UN resolutions on Palestine and Kashmir issue in its true letter and spirit. Pakistan must be perusing its convergence  of economic and strategic interests with China through China Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

Dr. Rasool Baksh Raees (IR Expert):Despite of the UN reports on Indian human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, it seems that United Nations has failed to implement its own resolutions. Kashmiris have been suffering and facing Indian atrocities being committed by Indian forces for the last 74 years. Every day we listen the news of killing of innocent Kashmiris in the hands of cruel Indian forces. India has crossed the limits by abrogating the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on 5th August, 2019 clearly violating international laws. The international community must realize the grieves and pain of the innocent Kashmiris and take concrete actions in this regard. The silence of international community is motivating India to commit massive genocide in the valley. Some of the responsible journalists, HR organizations and EU members visiting IIOJ&K have supported the plight of Kashmiris that they must be given their right to self-determination. Indian first Prime Minister Nehru himself committed to hold plebiscite in Kashmir once the situation become normal there. Pakistan is consistently highlighting Kashmir issue on all international forums and will continue to do so until the Kashmiris get for which they have been striving for decades.

Dr. Khurram Iqbal (IR Expert):The fact is that even before 5th August unilateral step taken by Indian government, the Indian forces were committing worst atrocities in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. But after the 5th August Indian move, the Hindutva ideology is being promoted and Muslims either in India or in IIOJ&K are being targeted by RSS extremists. The Muslims within India are being harassed and forced to raise slogans of Jay Shiri Ram. It is also to be observed that gradually the voices are rising in favor of Kashmiris. Moreover,, many international organizations are vocal on religious freedom in so-called world's largest democratic state. Pakistan has achieved remarkable success at diplomatic front as the Kashmir issue has once again been internationalized. The European countries are hesitant to force India to respect UN resolutions on  Kashmir dispute just for the sake of national interests with India because India is a big market. Time to time, Pakistan expressed positive gestures to normalize the situation with India and construction of Kartarpur corridor despite of hurdles created by Indian government is one of the examples in this regard. The efforts of Pakistan for peace and prosperity in the region are being hailed across the globe by the civilized community.

Lt Gen (Retd) Naeem Khalid Lodhi (Defense Analyst): Basically, BJP is a political face of RSS and the motto of this extremist organization has a clear agenda of promoting Hindutva ideology in the country. The narrative of RSS is that whoever wants to live in India must be converted into Hindu otherwise leave India. The incidents of mob lynching in India are at the peak. The friend countries of India are also criticizing India over its discriminatory policies. The current Indian policies will result in isolations and then destruction of India. The civil society and intellectuals within India are also talking about controversial policies and warning the government about the worst consequences.
