Archbishop of Rawalpindi-Islamabad, Dr. Joseph Arshad says the Christian community stands shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Armed Forces and is ready to render every sacrifice for the defence, security and sovereignty of the motherland.

In his message on the eve of Defence and Martyrs Day, he said September 6 is a historic day in the national history when the Armed Forces of Pakistan courageously confronted a much larger enemy and foiled its nefarious designs.

He said Defence Day reminds us of the supreme sacrifices rendered by the martyrs and Ghazis, who demonstrated unmatched courage for safeguarding the country's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

The Archbishop said the Christian community has historically played an important role in the defence of Pakistan and rendered valuable services and sacrifices for the country.

Joseph Arshad called upon the nation to renew its resolve to contribute to the country's development, prosperity, peace and stability with dedication and sincerity.
