
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari jointly inaugurated the Phase-III expansion of the Thar Block-II Coal Mine in Tharparkar.
Addressing the ceremony, the Sindh Chief Minister said the Phase-III project would increase coal production capacity from 7.6 million to 11.2 million tonnes annually.
He said the project is being completed through 100 percent self-financing.
He said the project would enable the 660-MW Lucky Electric power plant to operate on Thar coal, while total electricity generation from Thar coal would rise to 1,980 MW.
