October 05, 2026

The Privatisation Commission Board has approved key measures to advance ongoing privatisation transactions across the power, aviation and financial sectors.

The Board, which met in Islamabad today with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation Muhammad Ali in the chair, approved the pre-qualification of nine interested parties for the privatisation of Gujranwala Electric Power Company.

The pre-qualified parties include three Turkish energy companies, alongside leading Pakistani business groups and investment consortia, reflecting continued domestic and international investor interest in Pakistan's electricity distribution sector.

In the aviation sector, the Board considered the reconstitution of the Negotiation Committee for the outsourcing and concession of Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore; Jinnah International Airport, Karachi; and Islamabad International Airport.

The Board also reviewed progress on key financial-sector transactions and advised the transaction advisers to fast-track the privatisation process for House Building Finance Company Limited and Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited to ensure timely completion of both transactions.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the government's privatisation programme through transparent, competitive and professionally managed transactions.

It said the focus would remain on attracting credible domestic and international investment, improving efficiency and service delivery, and maximising value for the government and the people of Pakistan.
