Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed satisfaction over the progress and transparency of the Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Programme.

He was chairing a meeting to review progress on the programme in Islamabad today.

Shehbaz Sharif said the technology-based subsidy initiative will prove to be a game changer for public welfare.

He said simplifying the registration and subsidy disbursement procedures has led to an increase in registrations, enabling more deserving citizens to benefit from the facility.

The Prime Minister directed the authorities to cancel the licenses of petrol pumps that fail to facilitate registered beneficiaries under the petrol subsidy scheme.

The meeting was informed that over 15.5 million citizens have so far registered under the programme, including 15.06 million motorcycle owners and 449,000 owners of vehicles with engine capacity of up to 800cc.

A total of over 63.15 million fuel subsidy tokens have been issued, out of which more than 59.44 million have been redeemed.

The meeting was further informed that payments amounting to 28.6 billion rupees have been made under the fuel subsidy scheme as of November 4, 2026.

Separate call centres have also been established for consumers and petrol pumps to provide information about the programme and address complaints.

The Prime Minister appreciated Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima, Secretary for IT and Telecommunication Zarar Hashim Khan and their team for developing an effective monitoring mechanism and dashboard for the scheme.
