Renowned singer, Lata Mangeshkar, who sang thousands of songs in different languages in her lifetime, died today at the age of 92.
She was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai since last month after testing positive for Covid-19.
Born in 1929 in India, she started her musical training under the tutelage of her father Deenanath in his theatrical productions when she was just five.
She pursued her career as a playback singer and her high-pitched voice soon became a staple of Bollywood blockbusters and she was titled the 'Nightingale of India'.
Lata's duets with Mohammad Rafi, Mehdi Hassan, Kishore Kumar, Hemant Kumar, Asha Bhosle, Shamshad Begum and others still echo in the minds and hearts of people around the world.
She won many awards and also holds the record of the most recorded artist in history by Guinness Book of world Records.
Her death has saddened music lovers around the world with condolences pouring in on social media.
Meanwhile, in a tweet, Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan paid tribute to Lata Mangeshkar saying that with the death of Lata Mangeshkar the subcontinent has lost one of the truly great singers the world has known.
He said listening to her songs has given so much pleasure to so many people all over the world.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said a legend is no more who was a melodious queen and who ruled the world of music for decades.
