Saraiki Culture Day observed

Saraiki Culture Day was observed on Wednesday to promote culture of Saraiki belt.

Radio Pakistan Multan correspondent reports that Saraiki nationalists, political parties, civil society members and students today gathered in Multan Tea House to celebrate the day.

The organizers held Saraiki Jhoomer (dance), played songs and all the participants were wearing blue Saraiki Ajrak to celebrate the cultural day.

On the occasion, speakers said they are spreading the message of love and care to prote tolerance and peace in the society.

In his congratulatory message in connection with Saraiki Culture and Saraiki Ajrak Day, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said the government will further promote the local languages, literature and cultures of all regions.

He said Saraiki is a very sweet language, which is spoken not only in South Punjab but also in Balochistan and India.

The Prime Minister said Seraiki culture and Indus civilization have an ancient history of thousands of years.

The Prime Minister said Hazrat Baha-ud-din Zakariya, Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam, Khawaja Ghulam Farid, Muhammad Salman Taunsvi, Sakhi Sarwar, Shah Shams Tabriz and other great Sufi saint further enriched the language.
