Pakistan sets example of religious tolerance by reopening Kartarpur Corridor
November 06, 2026

Pakistan has set an example of religious tolerance by reopening Kartarpur Corridor on the occasion of a major religious festival of the Sikh community.

India has suspended the movement of Sikh Yatrees to Pakistan through the corridor since May 2025, citing the Pahalgam false-flag incident as a pretext.

The Sikh community has repeatedly demanded the reopening of Kartarpur Corridor from India to enable the Yatrees to visit their religious sites and perform religious rituals in Pakistan. In this regard, the Punjab Assembly of India also passed a resolution on 27th October in favour of reopening the Kartarpur Corridor.

The Government of Pakistan had already announced on 17th September that the corridor would be reopened as a gesture of religious goodwill. It has completed all arrangements for religious ceremonies in connection with the 557th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.

Indian Sikh pilgrims have appreciated Pakistan's decision, saying that, in contrast to India's attitude, Pakistan has set an example of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence by reopening the Kartarpur Corridor. They said the love, sincerity and friendly attitude shown by the Pakistani government and people reflect the true spirit of interfaith harmony.
