A Sri Lankan court has barred the recently resigned central bank governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal from leaving the country until 18th of this month.     

Colombo Additional Magistrate made the order while hearing a petition about the current economic crisis in the country.          

The court also issued notice to the Governor of central bank ordering him to appear before it on 18th.

 The Governor of central bank has been under criticism for his reluctance to seek assistance from the International Monetary Fund as lacking foreign currencies led to fuel shortages and hours-long power cuts in the country.
