The 27th martyrdom anniversary of Kargil War hero, Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, is being observed today with respect and veneration.

On the occasion, Quran Khawani and prayers were held in Masajid across the country. 

President Asif Ali Zardari has paid tribute to the great sacrifice and bravery of Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, on his martyrdom anniversary.

In a statement, the President said the blood of martyrs is the guarantee of Pakistan's safe, strong and dignified future. He said the great traditions of martyrs are a proud asset of our national identity.

President Asif Ali Zardari said that the nation will always remember the great sacrifices of its martyrs with honor, respect and pride.   

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has paid rich tribute to Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed on his martyrdom anniversary.

In a statement, he said Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed's courage, bravery, and supreme sacrifice in the defence of the homeland during the Kargil war remain a source of immense pride for the entire nation.

He said that despite being critically wounded, Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed stood firm against the enemy, demonstrating an unparalleled spirit of patriotism.

The Prime Minister said the nation will never forget the sacrifices of this great son of the soil and all the martyrs of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and the Armed Forces of Pakistan have solemnly commemorated the martyrdom anniversary of Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider.

They paid profound tribute to his extraordinary courage, unwavering devotion and supreme sacrifice in the defence of the motherland during the Kargil conflict on this day in 1999.

Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed displayed exceptional gallantry and steadfast resolve while defending his post against relentless enemy attacks.

The people and Armed Forces reaffirm their unwavering commitment to preserving the sacred trust of the Shuhada-e-Pakistan and defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation with the same spirit of courage, dedication and honour.
