
Pakistan and Japan have signed the Exchange of Notes, Record of Discussion and Grant agreement, for the “Project for Flood Protection and Dike Improvement on Indus River in Sindh Province”, aimed at strengthening flood protection infrastructure and enhancing resilience of vulnerable communities in Sindh.
The Exchange of Notes and Record of discussion were signed and exchanged by Secretary Economic Affairs Muhammad Humair Karim Kidwai and Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Akamatsu Shuichi in Islamabad. The Grant Agreement was signed by Additional Secretary Ms Sabina Qureshi and Senior Representative, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Pakistan Sugawara Takayuki.
Japan is providing a grant of about 16.4 million dollars for the implementation of the project. The project will focus on the improvement and strengthening of the Old Abad Bund in the Larkana area of Sindh Province, along the right bank of the Indus River.
