All Parties Hurriyat Conference has urged the United Nations Secretary General to urgently intervene for settlement of lingering Kashmir dispute to avert a catastrophe in South Asia.

In a message from New Delhi’s Tihar jail, All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt said the Kashmir dispute is a nuclear flashpoint in South Asian region which should be resolved as per Security Council resolutions.

He said the people of Kashmir are demanding their internationally-recognized right to self-determination, and India’s rigidity in this regard could lead to destruction to the level of beyond anyone’s imagination.

Meanwhile, political experts and analysts in their interviews and statements in Srinagar said India is systematically paving way for settler colonialism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

They pointed out that the Muslim majority status of the occupied territory is under serious threat as during last four years the Modi regime has intensified its efforts to change the demography of the occupied territory.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader, Imran Nabi Dar asked the Indian authorities to clarify Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s assertion that over 9,000 landless individuals have been granted land in Jammu and Kashmir.
