Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain has said the government is taking measures to protect the economic interests of farmers and ensure the provision of agricultural inputs to them at reasonable rates.

Addressing an event in Islamabad today, he said efforts are also being made to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their produce to enhance agricultural productivity.

He said the Ministry of National Food Security is working on determining the wheat price for the next season.

The Minister for National Food Security said the national seed policy and national agricultural biotechnology policy have been approved. He said the seed policy will ensure the availability of high-quality, climate-resilient and high-yielding seed varieties. He said the National Agricultural biotechnology policy is aimed at modernizing the agri sector. He said the Prime Minister has also approved national olive policy, saying that our olive industry has also earned a major global recognition.
