July 08, 2026

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has reaffirmed the Government's commitment to support reforms contributing to the sustainable development of Pakistan's corporate and financial sectors.

He was chairing a meeting to review the performance of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in Islamabad today.

The Finance Minister stressed the importance of balancing business facilitation with an effective regulatory framework.

He appreciated the SECP's enforcement efforts, particularly action against state-owned enterprises for regulatory non-compliance, and emphasized the uniform application of regulatory standards across the public and private sectors.

The meeting also reviewed measures to deepen Pakistan's capital markets and broaden investor participation.

SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu and senior officials gave a detailed presentation on the Commission's performance and key reform initiatives undertaken during the period from January to June this year.
