Pakistan, Bahrain set $1bn bilateral trade target: Dar

Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has said Pakistan and Bahrain have set a target to increase bilateral trade volume to one billion dollars.

Addressing the third meeting of Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission in Islamabad, he said efforts are being made to further strengthen bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in various sectors.

Ishaq Dar said Pakistan and Bahrain have completed fifty-five years of diplomatic relations and expressed the resolve to continue the high-level contacts and cooperation between the two countries. 

He stressed that both countries must make concerted efforts to achieve the trade targets, through business-to-business and government-to-government connections.

Ishaq Dar said approximately 134,000 Pakistanis reside in Bahrain and there is a need to further facilitate the mobility of skilled Pakistani manpower.

He also expressed satisfaction over mutual support between Pakistan and Bahrain at multilateral forums and expressed the desire to expand cooperation between the two countries across various sectors.
