In India, the Supreme Court has ordered the BJP-government to rescue and rehabilitate the ten of thousands of people displaced by ethnic violence that left 60 people dead and over 200 injured in Manipur state.

The fierce rioting broke out when members of about 30 tribal groups clashed with a non-tribal ethnic majority group over economic benefits and quota extended to them.

During the violence angry mobs attacked homes, vehicles, churches and temples forcing thousands to flee the area.

The top court rejected the government submissions regarding the violence and sought an updated status report after a week.
