Pakistan calls for stronger global action to end conflict-related sexual violence
July 09, 2026

Pakistan has called for stronger global action to end conflict-related sexual violence.

The call was made by Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Asim Iftikhar Ahmad while speaking during the Security Council's Open Debate on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence.

The Ambassador emphasized that conflict-related sexual violence is not an inevitable consequence of war but is often deliberately employed as a tactic of war, terror, torture, repression and collective punishment.

Calling for stronger international action, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad urged comprehensive and consistent accountability.

He said Pakistan would continue working with all Member States to end impunity, uphold the dignity of victims and survivors, and ensure that conflict-related sexual violence is met not with silence or selectivity, but with protection, accountability and justice.
