Peace in Balochistan central to Pakistan's stability: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that peace in Balochistan is central to Pakistan's stability, progress, and prosperity.

He was speaking at a briefing on the overall security environment in Balochistan during his visit to Quetta today, along with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that the efforts of the enemies of Pakistan to stall our positive trajectory, development, and progress will not be allowed to succeed. He reaffirmed the support of the entire nation, its armed forces, the law enforcement agencies, and the people of Balochistan in the fight against terrorism.

The Prime Minister, while expressing concern over the recent incidents, acknowledged the untiring efforts and resolve of the law enforcement agencies fighting the menace of Indian-sponsored terrorism in Balochistan. He emphasized zero tolerance against terrorism in all its forms in order to ensure the safety and security of the people of Balochistan, while expressing the resolve that, come what may, Pakistan will crush internal and foreign-based terrorist networks attempting to undermine the security of the province.

Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed that the Federal Government, in close coordination with the Provincial Government, will continue to support all efforts aimed at eliminating terrorism, strengthening the writ of the State, and ensuring that the people of Balochistan are able to pursue a future of peace, development, and opportunity.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to the Shuhada who rendered the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and expressed solidarity with their families.

Earlier, the Prime Minister was comprehensively briefed on the overall security environment in Balochistan, with particular focus on recent terrorist incidents, ongoing intelligence-based operations, and measures being undertaken by the Military and the law enforcement agencies for the safety and security of the people of the province.

Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail and Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti were also present during the visit.

Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, as well as Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah accompanied the Prime Minister.
