Analysts hail Pakistan’s commitment to not make any compromise on Kashmir
April 10, 2021

Abdullah Gul (Defense Analyst): The statement of Foreign Minister basically represents the wish of the nation on Kashmir issue. Foreign Office has clearly stated that no compromise will be made as far as Kashmir dispute is concerned. It is a fact that India is involved in 5th generation war against Pakistan and the report of EU DisinfoLab is a clear evidence of it. The report is an eye opener for the world that how India is using international media to malign Pakistan. Efforts by India are underway to create trust deficit between Pakistani nation and the government's policies. As per our founding father, Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan. On the occasion of parade on 25th of March, picture of Burhan Wani was displayed and also Kashmir float was given respect by the participants to express solidarity with the Kashmiris. There can’t be any compromise on Kashmiris' fundamental right to self-determination. It is good development that the nation, military and political leadership are on same page and determined to continue moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir.

Brig. (Retd.) Haris Nawaz (Defense Analyst): Prime Minister Imran Khan after taking oath of his position offered an olive branch to India which was not reciprocated. After the Pulwama and Balakot incidents, Pakistan released Indian prisoners as goodwill gesture. Now, if India wants to hold dialogue with Pakistan, it must stop demographic changes, human rights violations and arrest of young Kashmiris in IIOJ&K. Islamabad has a principled stance that dialogue with India is possible only when Kashmir is on top of agenda. Pakistan has become the voice of Kashmiris across the globe that is frustrating India. Because of Indian hegemonic designs, regional countries including Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Iran have changed their policies towards New Delhi. Now, India wants negotiations with Pakistan for the sake of face saving as its aggressive policies have badly tarnished its image in the world. It is time that India respects the sovereignty of regional countries. Unless India changes its attitude, nothing good can be expected from the so-called world's largest democratic state.

Dr. Rasul Bakhsh Rais (IR Expert): There will be no dialogue with India until it reverts its decision of abrogating article 370 and 35-A in Jammu and Kashmir. Dialogue must be resumed from the point where it was stopped. Kashmiris are determined not to compromise on abrogation of Article-370. Top priority of Pakistan is that Kashmir must be on agenda while holding dialogue with India. Kashmir is the lone irritant standing in the way of better relations between Pakistan and India. In the current atmosphere, resumption of dialogue process will be a major achievement in itself.

Ashraf Jahangir Qazi (Former Ambassador): The visit of Foreign Minister to Germany is of vital importance. Germany is an economic power house in Europe. Although Germany is India’s sixth-largest trading partner, yet it declined to stop arms exports to New Delhi over Indian human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. It seems the world is awakening and taking serious notice of Indian atrocities in the held valley. India has unilaterally abrogated Article-370 and 35-A in UN declared disputed territory. Pakistan wants peaceful solution to Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions. The abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A is a violation of international laws and the world must force India to reverse its decision.

Hamayun Iqbal Shami (Chairman, Pakistan Economic Forum): It is a good development that Pakistani rupee is strengthening against the US dollar despite some economic challenges. Roshan Digital Account is designed to facilitate non-resident Pakistanis in their plans for investment in Pakistan based savings schemes and is suitable for both PKR and USD based transactions. Although, exports of the country are declining due to pandemic situation, yet the government is making all out efforts for revival of the economy.
