Punjab Govt announces special Ramazan Package of Rs5.5 bln to facilitate masses

The Punjab Government has announced a special Ramazan Package of 5.5 billion rupees to facilitate the masses during the holy month of Ramazan.

This was announced by Senior Minister Punjab, Abdul Aleem Khan while addressing a news conference along with Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister on Information, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan in Lahore after a high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan to check prices of the daily used items.

He said under the Special Ramazan Package, the prices of essential commodities, including chicken, fruits, pulses, vegetables, ghee and eggs would be reduced by 25 per cent.

Abdul Aleem Khan said the Prime Minister appreciated the steps taken by the Punjab Government to check price hike.

He said the reduction in prices would be ensured with strict measures against profiteering in the entire province.

The Senior Minister Punjab said the Provincial Government would procure wheat at the rate of 1,800 rupees per 40 kilograms on the directives of Prime Minister by raising its support price by 400 rupees.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said 364 Special Ramazan bazaars would be organized across the province to facilitate the masses.
