The Modi government is facing embarrassment in the United States over the involvement of Indian companies in H-1B visa fraud.

According to Indian newspaper The Indian Express, a major investigation has been launched in the United States into fraud in the H-1B and PERM visa programmes.

According to a US official, Indian IT company Cognizant is among the companies included in the scope of the investigation.

The newspaper reported that the investigation is being conducted by a task force headed by US Vice President JD Vance.
