25 killed in Philippines as tropical storm Megi causes landslides, flooding

In Philippines, at least 25 people have been killed in landslides and flooding across central and southern region caused by tropical typhoon 'Megi'.

The national disaster agency said, more than 13,000 people fled to emergency shelters as the storm pounded the region.

The central province of Leyte is among the hardest hit, with landslides leaving 21 people dead  while another four people killed in southern islands of Mindanao.

Massive rescue and relief operation is underway during which coast guards are evacuating the flood victims marooned in the flood-affected areas.
