APHC terms settlement of Kashmir dispute key to lasting peace in South Asia
May 11, 2025

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has reiterated that lasting peace in South Asia is impossible without just settlement of the Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement said that India's militaristic approach and RSS-driven ideology is not only denying Kashmiris their UN-mandated right to self-determination but also endangering regional stability.

While welcoming the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, the APHC warned that Indian intransigence continues to turn Kashmir into a nuclear flashpoint.

The spokesman urged the United Nations to intervene decisively and implement its own pledges on Kashmir.

He emphasized that the people of Kashmir, despite immense sacrifices, remain unwavering in their struggle for freedom.

Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safavi, Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, Mehbooba Mufti, along with several political, social, and religious organizations in IIOJK, have welcomed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

In their statements, they stressed that dialogue is the only viable path to lasting peace and stability.

Meanwhile, the 30th anniversary of the tragic destruction of the revered Charar-e-Sharief shrine of Sheikh Noorud Din Wali (RA) was observed across the occupied territory.

On the night of May 10-11, 1995, Indian forces reduced the centuries-old Sufi shrine, a historic mosque and over a thousand homes and shops to ashes during a 66-day siege in Badgam.
