88 people died in rain related incidents in Sindh, Balochistan

Continuous heavy rains have caused flooding like situation in various parts of the country that badly affected routine life.

In Sindh, twenty-six people have died in rain related incidents during current spell of monsoon rains across the province.

In a statement, Provincial Disaster management Authority said 14 died in Karachi, 9 in Thatta, 2 in Khairpur and one in Sukkur.

Talking to media persons after visiting rain affected areas in Karachi today (Monday), Sindh chief Minsiter Syed Murad Ali Shah thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for offering help of federal government to cope with rain emergency.

He said members of his cabinet, staff of District municipal corporations and Administrator Karachi are on roads to help people.

He said civic agencies are busy in draining out rain water from roads and low lying areas in the city.

Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over loss of lives in rain related incidents and expressed the determination that affectees will not be left alone in this time of test and will be compensated.

Relief, rescue and rehabilitation operation is underway in rain affected districts of Balochistan.

According to details, flood water from a stream entered in five villages of the Winder area of Hub today, where a rescue operation was launched and teams rescued more than one thousand stranded people including women and children. The rescued people have been evacuated to a safe place.

According to the Spokesperson Balochistan Provincial Government Farah Azeem Shah, 62 people including women and children have been died and more than fifty injured in rain related incidents in the province so far.

Pak Army, Frontier Corps, PDMA and district administration are fully engaged in relief and rehabilitation operations in the affected districts of the province. Tents, blankets, medicines and edible items are being provided to the affected people.
