Rivers Situation and Qualitative Flood Forecast

PAKISTAN METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT FLOOD FORECASTING DIVISION

HYDROLOGICAL SITUATION: River Indus at Guddu & Sukkur is in Medium Flood Level and at Kotri is in Low Flood Level, while all the other Major Rivers are flowing below Low Flood Level.

METEOROLOGICAL FEATURES:

(a) Yesterday’s trough of shallow Westerly wave over Northern parts of the country persists.

(b) Weak seasonal Low lies over Northeast Balochistan.

(c) Weak moist currents from Arabian Sea are penetrating upper parts of the country up to 3000 feet.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR NEXT 24-HOURS: Mainly dry weather is expected over most parts of the country, however Isolated thunderstorm/ rain is expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Indus & Jhelum along with South & Southeast Sindh and Rawalpindi Division.
