
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says no one will be allowed to destabilize economy of the country.
Chairing a meeting of the Federal Cabinet in Islamabad today, the Prime Minister condemned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government over its failure to address increasing terrorism, lawlessness and holding long march.
He underscored that Pakistan’s hard-earned macroeconomic stability, evidenced by historic State Bank reserves, controlled inflation, and targeted fuel subsidy will not be compromised.
He highlighted improvements in key economic indicators, noting that national remittances have increased, fiscal discipline has been strengthened, and State Bank reserves have reached a record high.
The Prime Minister said the PTI, which had governed the province for 13 years, is now pushing Pakistan towards destruction.
He said that 800 billion rupees had been allocated to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for counter-terrorism under the National Finance Commission Award between 2010 and 2026.
He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government failed to strengthen the Counter Terrorism Department, upgrade the police force, or procure the necessary weaponry, which has resulted in a rise in terrorism.
The Prime Minister said it is heart-wrenching the way common citizens, police officials, security officials, children and mothers are being martyred.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party had decided to send a joint delegation to initiate dialogue with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s leadership to resolve matters amicably.
He said Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also agreed to play a sincere role in facilitating these talks.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering support and steadfast solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
Strongly condemning the recent Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister stated that the aggression carries no justification.
Highlighting the historic, fraternal, and cordial ties between the two countries, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Saudi Arabia has consistently stood by Pakistan during challenging times.
He highlighted that Pakistan is now bound by the Trilateral Agreement, stressing that safeguarding the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah remains the collective responsibility of the entire Muslim Ummah.
He said Pakistan expresses solidarity with Saudi Arabia and stands with it and it will not tolerate any aggression against Saudi Arabia. He said it is a red line for Pakistan.
He added that Pakistan stands fully prepared to cooperate with Saudi Arabia across all spheres.
